ACQUISITION OF LAND DECLARATION BY THE LANDS AUTHORITY WHEREAS by the Declaration of the President of Malta of the 1st September, 1978, the undermentioned land was declared to be required by the competent Authority for a public purpose in accordance with the Land Acquisition (Public Purposes) Ordinance (Chapter 136) and that its acquisition thereof was to be by absolute purchase. I hereby declare that the undermentioned land is still required by the Government of Malta for a public purpose in accordance with the Government Lands Act (Chapter 573) of the Laws of Malta and that its acquisition thereof is to be by absolute purchase. 4th December, 2025 Description of the Land The following land in the limits of Wied il-Għajn: A plot of land measuring about 1,960.7 square metres, bounded on the North East and Soth West by property of Mr Joseph Vella and others, on the North West by a public passage and on the South East by property of Dr Lawrence Cauchi, LL.D or more precise boundaries. The above mentioned plot of land is shown delineated with the colour red and marked as plot ‘1’ on plan L.D. 231A/72, which may be viewed on demand at the Lands Authority, Auberge de Baviere, Valletta. That this declaration is being issued for the purposes of Article 44 of Chapter 573. The compensation offered for the above mentioned plot of land in terms of Article 44 and 64 of Chapter 573 is eleven thousand and nine hundred Euros and thirty one cents (€11,900.31), according to the valuation made by Architect Anthony Bezzina, an extract of which is being attached with this declaration. Architect’s Valuation (Original in Maltese) Valuation of plot no. 1, in the limits of Wied il-Għajn, required for expropriation purposes for public purposes. As instructed by the Chairman of the Land Authority, in terms of Government Lands Act, Chapter 573 of the Laws of Malta, I am assessing the freehold and unencumbered value in the year 1978, which value was updated along the years according to the index of inflation published in the Schedule of the Housing (Decontrol) Ordinance and this regarding the land in the limits of Wied il-Għajn, which is required by the Government for a public purpose, and this after having considered the locality, size, shape, state and potential, in terms of the plans and boundaries of the development zone as officially published by the Planning Authority, as well as the value of similar properties nearby and other matters which may effect the value of the same property.
